Liz grew up in northern England and read Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University; her final year project focused on the structure of natural shapes and materials. After gaining experience working as a consulting engineer in the steel industry, Liz pursued a PhD in Clinical Biomechanics at Strathclyde University. Her research involved mathematical modeling of total knee replacements, conducted in collaboration with staff and patients at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. After obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) from Edinburgh University, Liz became a teacher at a local secondary school, where she worked for twelve years. In 2023, Liz took a position as a Lecturer in Mathematics Education at Dumfries Campus, teaching on the PGDE Masters Primary Education Programmes. She is dedicated to developing innovative and creative ways to teach Mathematics and enjoys exploring the amazing landscape of Dumfries and Galloway.
