Professor Dr. Ella Hafermalz

Biography

Ella Hafermalz is an Associate Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a member of the KIN Research Group. She holds a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Sydney Business School and has additional degrees in Teaching, Media Communications, and Cultural Studies from the University of Melbourne. Ella's research focuses on the integration of new technologies, particularly Generative AI, into work practices. She has conducted in-depth analyses of remote and flexible hybrid working arrangements, exploring how AI technologies are reshaping the modern workplace. Her work connects theoretical frameworks from philosophy, social theory, and arts with practical applications in technology use. Ella is also actively involved in educational projects and courses, including Digital Innovation and Contemporary Working with AI.
