Biography

Ellen E. Faszewski is the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and a Clinical Professor in the Science Education program at Boston University's Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. Her research principally focuses on developmental biology, particularly amphibian development and sponge immunology. In her role as associate dean, she has studied the effects of mergers in higher education on academic engagement, interpersonal relationships, and psychological well-being. Dr. Faszewski is a passionate advocate for addressing food insecurity on college campuses and has collaborated with the executive director of the University’s Well-Being Initiative. Her efforts resulted in securing funding from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Department of Education to improve access to food pantry services at the University. Additionally, she is involved in environmental initiatives, providing leadership for events like the Colleges of Fenway Muddy River Symposium and the Muddy River clean-up. Dr. Faszewski also participates in the STEM education community by collaborating with Massachusetts General Hospital’s Youth Scholars STEM Program.
