Biography

Ellen Singleton is a Professor Emerita and Adjunct Research Professor at Western University, with over ten years of experience in the Faculty of Education. She holds degrees from the University of Alberta (BPE, B.Ed, M.Ed) and a Ph.D. in Secondary Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Calgary. Prior to her role at Western University, she taught for four years in the Department of Education at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and previously at junior and senior high schools in Edmonton, Alberta. Dr. Singleton has been an active member of the Physical Health Education Canada Research Council and has chaired the Council of University Professors and Researchers (CUPR). She also served as the English Language Editor for PHE Canada, supporting the open-source journal, PHEnex Journal. In recognition of her contributions, she was awarded the R. Tait McKenzie Award of Honour by PHE Canada in 2011. Her notable publications include 'Pedagogy Motion: Community Inquiry Studies in Human Movement' and 'Stones Sneaker: Active Theory for Secondary School Physical Health Educators.'
