Biography

Elliott Wimmer is a Senior Research Fellow in Imaging Neuroscience at University College London. He leads the Learning Memory Decision-making Group, where his research focuses on understanding how different types of memories guide behavior. Wimmer obtained his BA in Cognitive Science from the University of California, Berkeley, between 2001 and 2005. He then completed his PhD in Psychology at Columbia University from 2007 to 2012. Subsequently, he worked as a research fellow at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf under Professor Christian Büchel from 2013 to 2015 and at Stanford University with Professor Russ Poldrack from January 2016 until April 2017. In 2021, he joined University College London to collaborate with Professor Ray Dolan. His research has been supported by several prestigious fellowships, including a Career Development Award from the Medical Research Council, running from 2021 to 2026, and a fellowship from the German Research Foundation from 2017 to 2019.
