Biography

Emanuel Ubert is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. His research focuses on how organizations adapt to unexpected disruptions and uncertain futures, exploring how these disruptions and uncertainties can foster the emergence of strategic innovations. He is particularly motivated by questions related to climate change and how such disruptions can trigger sustainable and equitable societal transformations. Theoretically, his work engages with the Carnegie School, evolutionary theory, design thinking, and political economy, using large panel datasets and in-depth qualitative methods to underpin his findings. With a PhD in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Emanuel has prior experience as a management consultant and has worked with near-bankrupt companies. He also has a background as a leveraged finance banker and has co-founded a cafe film production company. His courses include Competitive Strategy and Strategic Management for the academic years 2024/2025 and 2025/2026.
