Biography

Emily Wilcox Gier is an Associate Professor of Practice at Cornell University's Department of Nutritional Sciences, where she also serves as the Dietetic Internship Director. Her expertise lies in clinical nutrition management, particularly within health care settings. Over the years, she has developed a keen interest in the nutrition care process, nutrition support, medical nutrition therapy, and process improvement within these domains. Gier is passionate about health care management resources, particularly in acute care settings, which informs her teaching methods and leadership roles. Gier has a strong focus on mentoring future registered dietitians, working diligently to instill enthusiasm and promote a positive learning environment in her courses, which are part of the required Didactic Program in Dietetics and Dietetic Internship. She employs innovative teaching approaches, including the 'flipped' classroom model, to enhance the educational experience of her students.
