Dr. Ettore Causa

Biography

Italian-born violist Ettore Causa is an Associate Professor Adjunct at the Yale School of Music, where he has taught since 2009. He is celebrated for his exceptional artistry, passionate intelligence, and complete musicianship. Causa has made solo recital appearances in major venues worldwide and has been a devoted chamber musician, collaborating with internationally renowned artists. He coaches graduate-level viola students and chamber ensembles at Yale and has participated in prestigious music festivals. Causa has released many highly regarded CDs, including a notable recording of Romantic Transcriptions for Viola and Piano, which won a prestigious “5 Diapasons” award from the French magazine Diapason. He was honored as a guest at the 43rd International Viola Congress in 2015, where he performed his arrangement of the Schumann Cello Concerto. Causa has collaborated with ensembles such as the Tokyo String Quartet and the Brentano String Quartet, and he has performed at significant festivals including the Salzburg Festival and the Round Top Festival Institute.
