Dr. Eugene Poh Zhenyong

Biography

Dr. Eugene Poh is a Lecturer in Exercise Sports Science at Macquarie University, holding a PhD in Sensorimotor Neuroscience from the University of Queensland. His diverse academic background includes fields such as physical education, exercise sports science, cognitive science, and neurophysiology. Before joining Macquarie University in 2022, he completed postdoctoral studies in the Department of Psychology at Princeton University and served as a lecturer in motor control and learning at the University of Wollongong. Dr. Poh's research is focused on advancing the understanding of human motor control and learning through innovative projects that integrate motor psychophysics, computational modeling, and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques. His work investigates the fundamental principles of how the brain acquires new motor skills, exploring the types of error signals that drive recalibration, mapping motor commands, and maintaining movement accuracy and precision. His research spans various topics, including the computational principles underlying cognitive strategies, implicit motor adaptation, and the neural representations involved in motor learning and decision-making processes.
