Dr. Eva Jaspers

Biography

Eva Jaspers is a Professor of Empirical Theoretical Sociology at Utrecht University, where she leads research and teaching initiatives. Her academic focus includes the study of intersection networks and diversity inequality, aiming to understand how people's contexts, interactions, and relationships shape behavioral patterns and outcomes in various environments, including schools, workplaces, and homes. She has contributed significantly to the field through publications in reputable journals such as the American Sociological Review, European Sociological Review, and Social Networks. Over her career, she has managed large-scale data collections and secured multiple grants from organizations like NWO and the Volkswagen Stiftung. Eva has been involved in international research projects, including network interventions that counter polarization and research on the transition to parenthood among same-sex couples. Additionally, she is a Fellow in the Gravitation Program SCOOP, which focuses on interdisciplinary studies of sustainable cooperation and resilience in societies. She also serves as a co-applicant for the prestigious NWO Summit Grant within the Social Cohesion research consortium.
