Biography

Evangelia Demerouti is a Full Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Her research focuses on processes enabling performance, the effects of work characteristics, individual job strategies (including job crafting and decision-making), occupational wellbeing, and work-life balance. She studied psychology at the University of Crete in Greece, where she obtained her PhD in Work and Organizational Psychology (cum laude, 1999) from Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg in Germany. After her doctorate, she worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Radboud University Nijmegen. From 2002 to 2009, she held the positions of assistant professor and associate professor at Utrecht University. In 2015, she served as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Demerouti has published over 200 national and international papers and book chapters and has acted as an associate editor for the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology and the European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology. She is also actively involved in various institutions as a visiting professor and has held key roles in multiple academic boards and associations, including the European Association of Work & Organizational Psychology.
