Dr. Ewart Keep

Biography

Ewart Keep is an Emeritus Professor at the Department of Education, University of Oxford. He is also the founder and director of the Centre for Skills, Knowledge and Organisational Performance (SKOPE), which was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) for fifteen years. Prior to his time at Oxford, Professor Keep worked for twenty-one years at Warwick Business School and the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff University. His research interests include apprenticeships, personnel management, and skills policy, alongside the relationships between skills and economic performance. Keep has been heavily involved in advisory roles for various governmental and educational institutions including the Scottish Funding Council and the Higher Education Funding Councils in England and Wales, and has contributed to projects addressing youth employment and adult lifelong learning. He is currently managing an ESRC-funded project focusing on NEETs (young people not in education, employment, or training) in the UK, part of a broader European initiative. Professor Keep has acted as an advisor on governmental projects concerning adult learning and labour market changes, and is a member of the Scottish Government’s Labour Market Strategy Group.
