Dr. Fabio Parasecoli

Biography

Fabio Parasecoli is a Professor at New York University Steinhardt, specializing in the cultural politics of food. His research focuses on the media, design, heritage, and international affairs, particularly in relation to Middle and Far Eastern political issues. Parasecoli has extensive experience as a food writer, serving as the U.S. correspondent for Gambero Rosso, Italy's leading food and wine magazine. His scholarly work includes collaborating on food-related exhibitions at prestigious institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. He has authored and edited several influential books about food, including 'Al Dente: History of Food in Italy' and 'Gastronativism: Food, Identity, Politics.' His writings have appeared in notable publications like the New York Times and National Geographic. Parasecoli previously directed the Food Studies Initiatives at the New School in New York City, where he launched undergraduate degrees in Food Studies. He holds a Doctorate in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany.
