Biography

Felipe Hernández is a Colombian-born architect based in the United Kingdom, holding the position of Associate Professor of Architecture and Urban Studies at the University of Cambridge. He is also a Fellow at King’s College, where he serves as the Director of Studies in Architecture. Dr. Hernández’s research focuses on the intersection of architecture and urbanism, particularly in relation to conditions of 'coloniality,' and he aims to develop pertinent approaches in both teaching and practice across the Americas. He has published extensively on Modern Architecture in Latin America, tackling critical issues such as race, gender, and socio-economic disparity. His works include influential monographs and edited volumes addressing spatial and social concerns in architecture, with a focus on issues pertinent to Latin America. Throughout his academic career, he has established the Housing Design-Research Collaborative and has supervised numerous PhD students researching diverse topics in urbanism. Currently, he is completing a monograph on race and architecture, set to be published by Routledge.
