Professor Dr. Florencio Portocarrero

Biography

Florencio Portocarrero is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He completed his PhD in Organization Management at the University of California, Irvine. His primary research goal is to improve the understanding of how organizations work towards the global imperatives of human, social, and environmental sustainability. His research has direct applications that assist managers in creating sustainable and healthy workplaces for their stakeholders. Florencio collaborates with for-profit, non-profit, and public organizations to design, implement, and evaluate social and environmental impact initiatives. His research streams explore corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its critical role in fostering social and environmental sustainability. He has also worked on individual differences in emotions at the workplace and how they affect attitudes and behaviors. Over the past decade, he has gained substantial teaching experience across several universities, including City University of New York and Columbia University, focusing on management, organizational behavior, and leadership. Before his academic career, he was a CSR Manager at a large bank in Latin America.
