Biography

Florencio Portocarrero is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Before joining LSE, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Management Division of Columbia Business School. Florencio completed his PhD in Organizational Management at the University of California, Irvine. His research focuses on improving the understanding of how organizations work toward the global imperative of human, social, and environmental sustainability. He conducts applied research to help organizations and managers create sustainable and healthy workplaces and communities. His work primarily investigates corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its impact on social and environmental sustainability. Additionally, he collaborates with for-profit, non-profit, and public organizations to design, implement, and evaluate initiatives aimed at creating positive social and environmental impacts. Over the past decade, Florencio has taught and coached courses on management, organizational behavior, organizational change, leadership, and strategic management at various universities. Prior to his academic career, Florencio worked as a CSR Manager at a large bank in Latin America.
