Frank Barnes served 30 years as an educator, researcher, and organizer. He was the chief accountability officer for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the nation's 17th largest school district, from 2012 to 2023. In this role, he designed and implemented a school turnaround strategy that successfully improved more than half of the district's turnaround schools. Before working in Charlotte, Barnes was involved with the Boston Public Schools as a teacher and chief accountability officer.
