Biography

Frédéric Dallaire-Tremblay is an assistant professor in the Department of Art History and Cinema Studies at the Université de Montréal. He completed a postdoctoral research-creation project on collective listening practices (UQAM). Author of a thesis on sound mixing thought and practice (UdeM/Paris X), he teaches sound and video practice, experimental cinema, and cinema philosophy. A member of the research-creation laboratory "La création sonore: cinema, media arts, sound arts," he creates videograms, sound essays, and musical projects, including Dynamique de la pénombre (2012) and Le souffle court (2017). His ongoing research focuses on audiovisual resonance and alteration, aiming to establish a sound thought of video and experimental cinema. He supervises graduate students and engages in innovative relational practices within cinema through musical improvisation, contributing significantly to contemporary cinema and sound creation.
