Biography

Fredrik Sjöstrand is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Studies at Uppsala University. He lectures on topics related to organization theory, network organizations, social networks, organizational culture, leadership, corporate responsibility, sustainability, and scientific methods in marketing. He completed his doctoral research at Stockholm University, which explored coordination mechanisms in network organizations. Fredrik has served as the Head of the Department of Business Administration and Economics at Gotland University from 2005 to 2009. He has also been a Programme Director for the Master’s programme in Sustainable Management and has held various positions at Gotland University and Uppsala University. In addition, Frederick is a recurrent guest lecturer at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa as well as Stockholm University. He has supervised and examined Bachelor’s and Master’s students, and his research interests encompass network organizations, virtual organizations, social networks, information technology, sustainable tourism, and destination governance. His previous research projects have involved the manufacturing industry, SME innovation, and entrepreneurship development, and he has participated in the VITS programme at Linköping University where he engaged in multi-disciplinary research on development networks in the wind power industry.
