Biography

Gaëtan Mertens is an experimental psychologist with a focus on learning, memory, psychopathology, fear, and anxiety. He conducts laboratory studies primarily using classical conditioning paradigms and psychophysiological measures, such as skin conductance and startle reflex. He obtained his PhD in Psychology in 2016 from Ghent University in Belgium. Following his doctoral studies, he worked as a post-doctoral researcher for six months in the Department of Clinical Psychology at Utrecht University. Currently, he is a tenured assistant professor in the Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology at Tilburg University.
