Professor Dr. Gavin Mackenzie

Biography

Gavin Mackenzie is a Teaching Fellow in Outdoor Environmental Education at the University of Edinburgh's Moray House School of Education and Sport. His background includes lecturing on outdoor learning at the University of Cumbria and adventure education at the University of the Highlands and Islands. He is a passionate educator with a diverse range of experience in both formal and informal educational contexts in the UK. Gavin believes in the power of the outdoors to connect humans with the more-than-human world, fostering powerful embodied experiences. His teaching and research focus on access to educational contexts and pedagogical approaches in outdoor learning.
