Biography

Geneviève Mercille is an Associate Professor at the University of Montreal's Department of Nutrition. With over a decade of experience working with the Innu and Atikamekw Indigenous nations in Quebec, she pursued her academic journey that culminated in a Doctorate in Public Health in 2013 from the University of Montreal. Following her doctoral studies, she worked at the Montreal Regional Public Health Directorate and completed postdoctoral studies at the Université de Sherbrooke and the CHUM Research Centre. Her research interests focus on the influence of food environments and local food systems on health and nutrition, as well as the reach, acceptability, and impact of interventions aimed at improving equity in access to healthy foods and food security. Her work is conducted in collaboration with various organizations, including the Montreal Regional Public Health Directorate of the CIUSSS and multiple community agencies.
