Winthrop Professor Geoffrey Soutar graduated in Economics from the University of Western Australia (UWA) and undertook doctoral training at Cornell University before returning to teach at UWA from 1973 to 1986. He was the Foundation Professor of Management at Curtin University of Technology from 1986 to 1994, and served as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Public Management at Edith Cowan University from 1994 to 1999. Professor Soutar directed the Graduate School of Management at UWA from 2000 to 2007 and headed the Marketing Discipline Group at UWA from 2008 to 2016. His contributions extend to a range of roles including membership on the ARC’s College of Experts and the ARC’s ERA Research Evaluation Committee. He has published over 200 research papers and has presented more than 300 papers at seminars and conferences. His research interests focus on cross-cultural decision-making, new product and service development, and the role of service quality in organizational success. Professor Soutar's major research streams include cooperative organizations in modern marketplaces and the relationship between personal values and decision-making processes.
