Biography

George H. Berghorn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Construction Management at Michigan State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Construction Management from Michigan State University and has a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies from Yale University, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Earth Science and Political Science from SUNY Brockport. Berghorn is a LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design and Construction and a Certified Green Professional. His research interests include the feasibility of building deconstruction and material reuse, barriers to increasing mass timber building construction in the U.S., and the role of construction activities in the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species. He has received funding for several projects and has contributed to a curriculum development initiative on mass timber. Berghorn has also served as a coach for the Residential Competition Team and coordinates the Construction Management Education Research Lab.
