Biography

Gerald Wurf joined Monash University in 2017 as a Senior Lecturer (Practice) in Counselling and Educational Psychology. He previously worked as an educational/developmental psychologist for the New South Wales Government and provided consultancy services for NGOs and independent schools in New South Wales, as well as international schools in Hong Kong. Gerald is a registered psychologist with an endorsement from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency in Educational and Developmental Psychology. He served as a Fellow on the Australian Psychological Society's national committee for the College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists. Over eight years, he taught at the University of Hong Kong and The Open University of Hong Kong, and worked as a high school counselor and senior social sciences teacher at Hong Kong International School. Gerald has two decades of professional experience serving children and young people with complex learning, behavioral, and emotional challenges. He is currently a member of the Editorial Board for the Australian Educational Developmental Psychologist. His expertise aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and he has engaged in multiple projects aimed at improving educational and mental health outcomes for students, particularly in the context of school belonging and post-COVID-19 recovery.
