Dr. Gina Roncoli

Biography

Gina Roncoli is an Australian screenwriter, script editor, and story producer with extensive experience in the media industry. Her background includes journalism, documentary production, and narrative development. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and has studied screenwriting at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS). After graduating from AFTRS, she co-wrote and produced the critically acclaimed documentary 'Canto La Vida' in 1989, which received numerous international awards, including the Australian Film Institute Award for Documentary in 1990 and the Special Jury Prize at the San Francisco International Film Festival. Throughout her career, Gina has worked with major producers and broadcasters across various genres such as drama, animation, comedy, and children's series, earning multiple nominations and winning the Australian Writers' Guild (AWGIE) Award for Children’s Script in 2003. Additionally, Gina has held institutional roles including Project Officer at the NSW Film Television Office and Industry Consultant at the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), where she played a critical role in advocating for policies that support industry practices. She has also chaired the NSW Committee of the Australian Writers Guild (AWG). In her academic career, Gina teaches screenwriting and media practice at universities and film schools, leveraging her industry experience to bridge the gap between creative practice and academia.
