Biography

Gina Starblanket is an Associate Professor in the School of Indigenous Governance at the University of Victoria. She is a Cree/Saulteaux member of the Star Blanket Cree Nation located on Treaty 4 territory. Her research and writings focus on Indigenous-settler relations, Indigenous movements and political transformation, and Indigenous feminisms. As a co-editor for the Native American Indigenous Studies Association, her work has contributed significantly to the field. Her publications include Making Space: Indigenous Feminisms (2024, Fernwood Press), Storying Violence: Unravelling Colonial Narratives of the Stanley Trial (ARP Press, 2020), and Visions of the Heart: Issues Involving Indigenous Peoples in Canada (OUP, 2019 & 2025). Her academic pursuits seek to address the dynamics of relationships between Indigenous peoples and settler societies, promoting understanding and reconciliation through scholarship.
