Biography

Glykeria Martou is an Assistant Professor at Queen's School of Medicine and has been affiliated with the divisions of Plastic Surgery and Oncology at Kingston Health Sciences Centre since 2016. She completed her MSc degree in the Department of Physiology at the University of Toronto before pursuing her medical education at McMaster University. Dr. Martou underwent residency training in Plastic Surgery at the University of Toronto, where she also completed fellowship training in Craniofacial and Microsurgical Reconstruction at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. In 2012, she became a fellow of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and was named a fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2017. Her clinical practice is centered on the reconstruction of oncologic ablative defects, with a primary focus on breast reconstruction, as well as the reconstruction of traumatic defects in the trunk and extremities. Her research interests center on evaluating the quality of life for patients undergoing breast reconstruction and promoting public awareness and education about this procedure. Additionally, Dr. Martou is interested in physician and resident wellness and the development of teaching tools for medical education.
