Biography

Greer Hamilton is an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan School of Social Work and a place-based researcher whose work examines systems of oppression embedded in the built environment and their subsequent impact on people's health and well-being, particularly in relation to public spaces. She often employs community-engaged, arts-based, and embodied approaches to understand and study the experiences of participants and their perceptions of places and meanings, especially neighborhoods. Hamilton co-coordinates the Community Scholars Program, a community-based initiative in partnership with the Detroit National Community Scholars Program. She also serves as an advisor for the upcoming Roots Reproductive Justice Timeline and is a board member of the Midwest Access Coalition, which provides practical support for individuals seeking abortion services across the Midwest.
