Biography

Gregory Benoit is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics Education and the Assistant Director of the Earl Center for Learning & Innovation at Boston University’s Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. With a strong background in graduate teacher education from the Boston Public Schools, he is dedicated to creating expansive mathematical spaces that nurture positive mathematics identities among students and teachers alike. His commitment to creativity, equity, and justice drives his critical examination of mathematics in popular culture and the design of digital simulations that foster culturally responsive teaching practices. Prior to joining Boston University, Dr. Benoit worked as a senior professional development math coordinator at Columbia University's Center for Professional Education of Teachers, where he tailored professional development programs to meet the needs and values of students and teachers. He has also co-directed the MathQuest Institute of Play, focusing on innovative professional development that integrates game design principles into mathematics instruction.
