Gregory Tucci is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, where he also serves as the Director of Undergraduate Studies. He received his B.S. in Chemistry from Villanova University and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Harvard University. During his undergraduate studies, he researched the ability of sphagnum peat to remove heavy metals from drainage waters and was recognized with a research award by the Water Pollution Control Association of Pennsylvania. As a graduate student, he continued his work on the biological systems involving metals, developing an inorganic mimic of nickel enzyme that fixes carbon monoxide. Tucci is actively involved in advising and mentoring undergraduate chemistry majors and has developed and taught courses in Life Physical Sciences. Additionally, he co-developed a graduate-level practicum teaching course for graduate students in chemistry and teaches general chemistry at Harvard Extension School. His current research interests include the impact of technology on learning styles and high school preparation for university science classrooms. He has received multiple teaching awards for his effective instructional methods, including the Marquand Award for Advising and the Derek Bok Center's Golden Spatula Award in 2006.
