Biography

Guillermo "Willie" Martinez III currently serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Engagement and Academic Success at Austin Community College District (ACC). He leads district-wide priorities in academic support services and student experience outcomes, overseeing ACC's premier learning environment - the ACCelerators - and career exploration facility - the Make Center. With over 12 years at ACC, Willie has worked in various roles, including Institutional Research & Analytics and Academic Affairs's Provost's Office, and has taught statistics as an adjunct faculty member. His extensive experience includes managing multimillion dollar budgets and securing significant grant funding to enhance student success initiatives. He is passionate about fostering education career pathways and championing social equity and economic mobility. As a subject matter expert recognized by the American Council on Education, Willie is committed to innovative leadership in evolving educational environments. He holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and advanced degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as two bachelor's degrees from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Willie actively engages in community services, including involvement with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas and various educational initiatives aimed at supporting marginalized groups.
