Biography

Dr. Gustavo Vazquez is a professor of psychiatry at Queen's University, specializing in mood disorders and bipolar disorders. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he obtained his MD from the University of Buenos Aires in 1990. He completed his residency training in psychiatry at Alvarez General Hospital in Buenos Aires and University Clinic Hospital San Carlos in Madrid. Dr. Vazquez has held various academic positions, including assistant professor at the University of Buenos Aires and associate professor at the University of Palermo. In 2002, he became a professor of neuroscience, founding and directing the Department of Neuroscience and the Research Center on Neuroscience and Clinical Neuropsychology. His research focuses on clinical features, neurocognitive characteristics, and pharmacological treatments of unipolar and bipolar disorders. He is actively involved in international research collaborations and has served in leadership roles in several psychiatric societies. Dr. Vazquez has received numerous awards, including the World Psychiatric Association International Fellow Award and the Argentine Psychiatric Association National Award. He has published over one hundred articles in leading international journals and presented his work at various international conferences.
