Biography

Hakan Erdogmus is a Teaching Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Silicon Valley Campus, specializing in Software Engineering. Before joining CMU in October 2013, he was an independent consultant based in Ottawa, Canada, specializing in software process management and project finance. He holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. Dr. Erdogmus has extensively published and lectured in fields such as economics of software engineering, agile software development, and empirical studies of software engineering practices. From January 1995 to June 2009, he worked at the Canadian National Research Council’s Institute for Information Technology, serving as a Senior Research Officer in the Software Engineering Group from 2002 to 2009. He has also served as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Software and is currently an associate editor for the Journal of Empirical Software Engineering. Dr. Erdogmus was a visiting scholar funded by the European Union at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain. He has contributed to organizing numerous international conferences and has served on about 50 program committees. Dr. Erdogmus received his PhD in Telecommunications from INRS-Université du Québec, and holds MSc and BSc degrees from McGill University and Bogaziçi University, respectively, in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Golden Core member of the IEEE Computer Society.
