Dr. Hanne Knudsen

Biography

Hanne Bruun Søndergaard Knudsen is an authorized psychologist and an associate professor at Aalborg University, where she specializes in developmental psychology. With a background in teaching and experience as a PPR psychologist, she addresses reading difficulties, language disorders, and executive functions in children and young people. Her teaching focuses on assessment, intervention, and including individuals with developmental language disorder (DLD), ADHD, and autism. Knudsen supervises psychology students in their internships and is affiliated with the psychology master's program. Her research centers on developmental language disorders (DLD), reading comprehension, and the psychosocial impacts of these conditions, with a strong emphasis on intervention strategies and reading instruction techniques like Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD). She leads the Reading Cognition research group, probing the cognitive foundations of reading utilizing eye-tracking methodologies. Internationally, she has participated in research networks concerning multilingualism, and is currently involved in projects that investigate reading patterns across various languages. Her work contributes towards advancing the understanding of literacy issues and cognitive processes aimed at supporting readers with language difficulties.
