Biography

Hans Berends is a Full Professor at the KIN Center for Digital Innovation, part of the School of Business and Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He has a background in organizational science, philosophy, and industrial engineering, and earned his PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology. His current research centers on the organization of digital innovation, particularly examining platforms, ecosystems, and emerging forms of collaboration. Berends employs a process research approach to explain the emergence and development of innovation over time. He teaches innovation management at bachelor, master, and executive levels, as well as process research methods to doctoral students. Currently, he also serves as the head of the KIN Center for Digital Innovation.
