Dr. Harvey Maylor

Biography

Harvey Maylor has been with the Saïd Business School since 2013 and currently serves as a Senior Fellow in Management Practice, where he has been an Associate Professor since June 2018. He previously directed the Major Projects Leadership Academy (MPLA), focusing on significant UK government projects. Before this role, he was the Founding Director of the International Centre for Programme Management at Cranfield University, overseeing a $4M research portfolio. His academic career includes positions as a lecturer at Cardiff Business School and the University of Bath, with a solid commitment to merging teaching with practice. Maylor's research primarily addresses operation management, specifically the complexities of major projects and systems design, emphasizing the interface between formal systems and human behaviors. He is known for developing frameworks to assess project complexities and has introduced innovative approaches that challenge traditional project management methods. With memberships in several professional associations, he actively contributes to discussions in operations and project management fields. His research has led to practical changes in how major projects are designed and managed, demonstrating tangible impacts across various organizations.
