Biography

Haykaz Mangardich is a postdoctoral research fellow at UBC Language Sciences, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). He completed his Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology under the supervision of Dr. Mark Sabbagh at Queen’s University, where he also held the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada Graduate Scholarship. His research employs behavioral and brain electrophysiological (EEG/ERP) methods to explore the nature of word representations and children’s word learning. He focuses on how children utilize social information provided by speakers, such as eye gaze and pointing, to rapidly acquire new vocabulary.
