Biography

Hazel Crichton is a Lecturer at the School of Education at the University of Glasgow, where she has worked since January 2006. Her research interests encompass modern languages teaching and learning, focusing particularly on classroom interaction and the use of the target language. Hazel's PhD thesis examined teachers' moves in using the target language to stimulate learners' responses and she has published articles on participation frameworks, sensitive error correction, assessment for learning, and student reflection. Currently, she supervises PhD students working on topics such as English teachers' perceptions of educational reform in Pakistan, the use of group work as a teaching method in various countries, and the professional development of English teachers in Turkey. Additionally, Hazel has also worked at the University of Edinburgh as a Lecturer in Modern Languages for 2 years and has held various teaching roles in modern languages in schools in Glasgow and Edinburgh. She is an active member of the General Teaching Council for Scotland and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
