Dr. Heather Grab

Biography

Heather Lee Grab is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Entomology at Pennsylvania State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Entomology from Cornell University and a B.S. in Biology from Ursinus College. Her research interests focus on landscape spatial ecology, integrated pest management, crop pollination, and sustainable agriculture. She investigates the dynamics between pests and beneficial insects, particularly pollinators, emphasizing their significant impact on agroecosystem productivity. Her projects include identifying reduced-risk pesticide programs to improve pest and beneficial insect management and leveraging long-term monitoring datasets to predict insect population dynamics. Additionally, she collaborates with stakeholders in vegetable and specialty crops to address practical agricultural needs. Heather is actively involved in extension activities, aiming to support food security and ecosystem sustainability goals through applied research and education.
