Heather Szabo-Rogers is an Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. Her research focuses on craniofacial development, particularly the molecular etiology of congenital craniofacial anomalies, which are among the most common birth defects affecting newborns. She investigates how signaling molecules influence the growth and maturation of craniofacial chondrocytes and the genetic and morphological processes that contribute to the development of orofacial clefts. Her lab aims to determine the underlying mechanisms of typical and atypical craniofacial development, including the control of differentiation and patterning of craniofacial osteoblasts. She holds a BSc from the University of Alberta, a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, and has completed a postdoctoral fellowship at King's College London.
