Biography

Helen Martin has a strong background in community activism, spending years campaigning within the local community. She returned to education as a mature student and obtained a BA in Community Development, followed by subsequent qualifications from the University of Glasgow. Helen has held the position of Service Manager at a third sector Community Development organization and worked as a Development Officer for a national anti-poverty agency. Currently, she teaches on the BA (Hons) Community Development program and contributes broadly to courses within the School of Education. Additionally, she serves as the Programme Co-ordinator for Activate, which introduces community-based practices in Community Development to local activists and volunteers. Her real passion lies in working with local communities, addressing equality and injustice.
