Dr. Hemant Ojha

Biography

Hemant Ojha is an environmental social scientist currently serving as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Australian National University’s Fenner School of Environment. He works as the Principal Advisor at the Institute for Sustainable Development Worldwide (IFSD) in Sydney, where he is involved in developing research projects aimed at enhancing water and climate security for communities in South Asia. With extensive experience as an action researcher in the Himalayan region, he has collaborated with community movements and policymakers on issues related to community-based natural resource management, water policy, inclusive development, and climate change adaptation. Hemant co-founded a civil society research organization focused on critical action research in South Asia and has advised international agencies such as UNESCO and OECD as part of expert panels on environment and development. He has published over 200 papers documenting his research output. Additionally, he has held a position as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Canberra, Australia.
