Biography

Holly Caretta-Weyer is currently the Associate Dean for Admissions Assessment at Stanford University School of Medicine, where she also serves as the Director of Assessment in the Department of Emergency Medicine and Chair of the Clinical Competency Committee. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, she completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the same institution, where she was Chief Resident. Holly is pursuing her PhD at Maastricht University, focusing on competency-based postgraduate selection, with an expected completion date of 2025. Her work has significantly advanced competency-based medical education, and she has successfully led a $1.3 million grant initiative aimed at redesigning assessment strategies in emergency medicine. An active member of several national committees, including the AAMC Core EPA Pilot group, she has made substantial contributions to programmatic assessment and has been recognized as the International Medical Educator of the Year in 2022 by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Outside of her academic responsibilities, Holly enjoys kayaking, hiking, cycling, and supporting her favorite sports teams.
