Biography

Hye Jin Rho is an Assistant Professor in the School of Human Resources and Labor Relations at Michigan State University. She holds a PhD in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management, where she was affiliated with the Institute for Work and Employment Research (IWER). Her research primarily focuses on the changing nature of work and the implications of these changes for employment processes and outcomes that dictate the future of work. Recently, she has been examining the understudied phenomenon of 'multi-layered labor contracting' structures, which create distances between workers and firms, as well as their impact on worker pay disparities. Professor Rho employs both quantitative and qualitative research methods at the intersection of labor relations, sociology of work, and applied labor economics. Her research projects have received funding from prestigious organizations such as the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Russell Sage Foundation, and the Labor Employment Relations Association (LERA).
