Biography

Hyowon (Hyo) Gweon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Stanford University. Her research focuses on understanding how humans learn and how they can help others learn. By employing an interdisciplinary approach that combines developmental, computational, and neuroimaging methods, her work aims to explain the cognitive underpinnings of distinctively human learning, communication, and prosocial behaviors. Gweon received her PhD in Cognitive Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2012 and proceeded to a post-doctoral position before joining Stanford in 2014. Throughout her academic career, Gweon has garnered numerous honors, including the Richard E. As a leader of the Social Learning Lab, she continues to contribute significantly to the field of psychology and cognitive studies.
