Biography

Iain Findlay-Walsh is a sound artist, musician, music producer, and researcher based at the University of Glasgow. His research employs sound-based autoethnographic methods to study musical experience, exploring the relationships and modes of making and encountering music, alongside issues of perception, technological mediation, agency, and selfhood. He releases sound art and soundscape compositions under the name 'Klaysstarr Nets' with works featured in notable international festivals such as BBC Tectonics, Rewire, and Counterflows. As a member of the acclaimed 'doomgaze' band Cwfen, he contributes to bass guitar and sound design. His related writings on sound art, music practice, audio technology, and sonic experiences have appeared in international peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes. Additionally, he co-directs the Immersive Experiences ArtsLab research network, focusing on digital and immersive media embodiment, and serves as the editor of the experimental music and arts journal, openwork. Iain is actively involved in supervising research students on topics concerning sound, music autoethnography, sound art, and the theory and practice of experimental music and record production.
