My PhD project investigates how damaged interactions arise among adults with hearing impairment in the workplace. Through fieldwork in work settings and qualitative interviews with adults with hearing impairment, I examine the social and physical circumstances that lead to these damaged interactions and the coping strategies employed by adults with hearing loss in situations where it is difficult to connect audibly with conversations. My project is supported by VELUX FONDEN and is part of a larger research initiative that explores how society can enhance communities for people with hearing impairment by creating positive social spaces in schools and workplaces. This research project has been developed in close collaboration with the Hearing Association and Frijsenborg Efterskole as well as Castberggård Job- and Development Center & Folk High School.
Focuses on clinical, social, and cognitive psychology.
