Biography

Imme's research focuses on understanding how children differ in their ability to acquire language, particularly in the context of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). She has a multidisciplinary background, having obtained a Bachelor's degree in Dutch Linguistics and Culture and a Master's in Cognitive Neuroscience from Radboud University. Imme completed her doctoral dissertation on statistical learning in children with DLD at the University of Amsterdam, which received the AVT/Anéla Dissertation Prize in 2020. She has experience working as a senior researcher at Kentalis and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Amsterdam, funded by an ABC Talent Grant. In 2022, she was awarded a prestigious Veni grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) for her project investigating the role of peer language in the language development of children with DLD. Imme emphasizes replicability and data transparency in her studies and engages in outreach activities, including blog writing and lectures, to raise awareness about DLD.
