Dr. Ingrid Nembhard

Biography

Ingrid M. Nembhard is the Fishman Family President’s Distinguished Professor in Health Care Management at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Her academic work primarily focuses on organizational behavior, organizational learning, teamwork, and quality improvement in health care settings. She has an extensive background that includes previous roles as a Tenured Associate Professor at Yale School of Public Health and Associate Professor at Yale School of Management. Dr. Nembhard employs both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to analyze health care delivery from the perspectives of providers and patients, striving to implement new practices and foster continuous organizational learning. Her current research investigates psychological safety in leadership and the role of patient feedback in quality improvement, particularly within high-performance health care environments. Over the years, she has received multiple accolades, including the Mid-Career Achievement Award from the Academy of Management's Health Care Management Division in 2023. Nembhard earned her Ph.D. in Health Policy Management with a concentration in Organizational Behavior from Harvard University, and she also holds an M.S. from Harvard School of Public Health and a B.A. in Ethics, Politics, and Economics from Yale University.
